Maharashtra Set (MHSET) Mathematics Entrance Exam Details

Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (MH-SET) is a state-level competitive exam conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University.

The candidate who qualifies for the SET would only be held eligible for being appointed as Assistant Professor in University/ affiliated college, provided he/she fulfills other academic qualifications prescribed for Assistant Professor post by the U.G.C.

The eligibility criteria to apply for MH-SET is:

The candidates must have a Master's Degree recognized by U.G.C., in a subject of SET(Any stream of Mathematical science).

The candidates other than SC/ST/OBC/SBC/DT(VJ)/NT/SEBC/Transgender category, who have secured at least 55% marks are eligible for this test.

OBC/SBC/DT(VJ)/NT/SEBC [belonging to non-creamy layer] and SC/ST/ PH/VH/Trans-genders/PwD (PH-Physically Handicapped, VH- Visually Handicapped i.e. Blind), category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks in Master's or equivalent Examination is eligible for this test.

The candidates who are studying in the first year of two years Masters Course or the first two semesters of a four-semester course of Masters Degree or studying in the fourth year of five years Integrated Masters Course are not eligible to appear for this test.

The candidates of other States (other than Maharashtra & Goa) belonging to reserved categories shall be treated as Open category, as per the Maharashtra and Goa States rules.

Tamilnadu Set (TNSET) Mathematics Entrance Exam Details

Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test for Assistant Professor will be conducted in 2 papers.

Candidates should have to appear for Both papers. The final result will be based on marks obtained in both papers.

The examination will be conducted as on Multiple Choice Question (MCQS) mode on Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet.

The Examination will be conducted in Both English and Tamil language. Each question carries 2 marks and candidates should have to attend all the questions in the booklet.

Gujarat Set (GSET) Entrance Exam Details

Government of India Notification dated 22nd July 1988 regarding revised pay scales stated that only those candidates who, besides fulfilling the minimum academic qualifications prescribed for the post of Assistant Professor / Lecturer, have qualified in a comprehensive test, to be specifically conducted for the purpose, will be eligible for appointment of Assistant Professor / Lecturer. UGC has recommended the introduction of test at entry level (Assistant Professor / Lecturer) in consultation with academicians and State education secretaries.

Accordingly, the UGC conducted the test for Junior Research Fellowship and eligibility for Assistant Professor / Lectureship on 24th December 1989 and 29th April 1990 in the subjects falling under Humanities and Social Science including languages. The CSIR conducted the Joint UGC-CSIR test for JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor / Lectureship on 31st December 1989. Simultaneously, the UGC asked the State Government and Union Territories about their option to conduct their own test or alternatively, adopt UGC and UGC/CSIR test. In the event that they opt to conduct their own test equivalent to UGC and UGC/CSIR tests, such tests shall require accreditation by the UGC. The Commission at its meeting held on 25th May 1990 decided to constitute a UGC Committee on accreditation of test to be conducted by State Committee and Union Territories. This committee is designated as U-CAT.

Gujarat Set (GSET) Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria

Only those candidates are eligible to appear in the GSET who have completed / are studying in the final year or semester of a UGC specified Master's degree.

The Reservation policy for GSET examination is as per the Gujarat Government. Central Government OBC certificate is not acceptable from the candidates belonging to SEBC of Gujarat State.

The candidates of other States, i.e. other than Gujarat State, belonging to reserved category shall be treated as General category candidates.

The candidates having Post Graduate diploma / certificate awarded by Indian University/Institute or Foreign degree / diploma / certificate awarded by the Foreign University / Institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence *of their diploma / degree / certificate, with Master's degree of recognized Indian Universities from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for GSET Examination. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for eligibility of Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master's Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of Socially and Educationally Backward Class (SEBC) belonging to non-creamy layer / SC / ST /PwD(PH/VH) / Transgender category candidates). Such candidates must complete their Master's degree examination within two years from the date of declaration of result of GSET Examination with required percentage of marks, failing which they will be treated as disqualified.
